Disagreement with Team Denmark


In Denmark we can not call us Virus Help Team Denmark, we had to change our name, because the 'Team Denmark - Institution for promotion of Danish Elite-athletics' did not like that we used the name 'Team Denmark'. They called it (we quote) "Abuse of the name Team Denmark". We had been using the name for over 3 years with VHT, and 5 years before with SHI, with no trouble at all. It is a strange world that we live in. But we will change our name, we don't have the money to fight them in court. Our anti-virus work, is just a hobby to us, we do not make any money out of this.

We in VHT-DK feel that "Team Denmark" is way to fare out of reality. So now we only use the name 'Virum Help Team'.


Translation of the letter we got from Team Denmark :
Abuse of the name TEAM DENMARK                28 february 1998

Dear Jan Andersen!

We have come to know via the internet that your group uses the name 'VIRUS HELP TEAM DENMARK'. Attached print from the Internet.

Unfortunately, we must inform you that the word mark TEAM DENMARK in both Danish and English versions as well as constellations of the name are protected in all product categories.

We therefore can not, accept your use of the name and must therefore immediately request you to change the name of your company, so that the word mark Team Denmark is deleted.

Otherwise, we will file an injunction, as well as claim compensation for the misuse of the name during the period it has been used.

To avoid this last part, We kindly request that on the attached copy of this letter to confirm that you agree to the above.
